It is considerably hygroscopic in nature. DEG is miscible with water, alcohol, ether, acetone but is insoluble in benzene and carbon tetrachloride. Di-Ethylene Glycol is used in Unsaturated Polyester Resins, Coolants, Pesticides, Rubber Compounding, Plasticizer, Polyurethane Foams, Textile Auxiliaries, Polyethylene Glycols, Paints etc. DEG can be transported in Epoxy coated MS tankers.
